Spring update from Meadowland Agronomy Manager

March 16, 2026

Patrons of Meadowland Farmers Coop,

My name is Jon Ahrens, and I am the new Agronomy Manager. My wife Polly, who is a public health nurse for Renville county, and I live in the river valley south of Renville and we have 2 kids- Kate who is starting her master’s degree at St. Cloud State, and Will who is a
freshman at Augustana in Sioux Falls. I started with Farmers Co-op Oil Co. of Echo in 1997 as an applicator/bin builder and in 2010 moved into the Agronomy Manager role in Echo. I have been the Location Manager in Echo since we became Meadowland.

As we get closer to spring, I would like to update you on some changes for the upcoming season. This spring we will be billing your fertilizer and chemical with discounts already in place. We will still have deferred billing on spring agronomy until June. The due date on agronomy products this spring will now be the end of the June, which will give you 15 extra days to pay. For example: with Croplex fertilizer in years past, if you didn’t prepay you would get charged $931.58/ton, and if you paid by June 15 for the 5% discount ,your price ends up being $885/ton. Now you will just get billed $885/ton and have 15 extra days to pay. So, the price you see on your statement is what you will pay. For purchases made in June, July or August, they would be due at the end of the following month. Any questions feel free to call.

Have a great spring!!
Jon Ahrens, Meadowland Agronomy Manager
