Meadowland Farmers Coop

Last Wednesday, July 15th, Meadowland Farmers Coop hosted a free Kids Safety Day in Lamberton from 4:00-7:00pm. The event was sponsored by a group of Southern Minnesota agricultural co-ops in association with MNOSHA Workplace Safety Consultation. Highlights of this year’s event included:

• Redwood County Sheriff’s Department K9 unit
• Lamberton Police Department
• Grain bin engulfment simulator
• Lamberton Fire Department water hose spraying
• Lamberton Ambulance freezies, tattoos and first aid basics
• Agricultural chemical safety
• Horse and buggy rides
• Chain and belt pinch point demonstration
• Red Rock Central FFA food stand

Despite the heat and humidity, 68 children attended the event and received gift bags containing trinkets and merchandise from the sponsoring co-ops. Proceeds from the food stand were also donated to the Red Rock Central FFA!
