Farmers Cooperative Elevator (FCE) & Meadowland Farmers Coop (MFC) Announce Their Intent to Merge FCE into MFC

The Board of Directors from Farmers Cooperative Elevator Company and Meadowland Farmers Coop announce their intent to merge Farmers Cooperative Elevator Company into Meadowland Farmers Coop. The cooperative boards have had discussions on going and have concluded a unification is in the best interest of both cooperatives, their patrons and employees.
As both cooperatives continue to work through their due diligence, more information will be released. The cooperatives anticipate member meetings and a vote sometime after the fall harvest. Since this merger will result in FCE being integrated into Meadowland, only FCE members will vote.
The combined cooperative would have four 110 car shuttle loaders allowing access to shipping grain on every major railroad serving Minnesota. MFC Board Chairman, Brian Hicks, commented “With this merger, Meadowland gains better access to world markets through the ability to ship on different railroads and it expands our geographical footprint to help maintain and grow our relevance to the marketplace.”
FCE Board Chairman, Adam Gorecki, states “The entire Board is looking to the future and what we could do to successfully deliver the most value for our patrons and employees. We saw the need for diversification of the co-op and Meadowland brings that diversification with 8 different divisions, especially their agronomy and energy assets.”
